The Hibernation is Over

September 2018,

It is the first day of September meaning it is the national end of Alapca-land's Summer Hibernation.

One by one the Alapcas are waking up from their long, deep, sleep, and returning to Alapca life. The candidates for the Alapca Election are now parading the streets of all the islands of Alapca-land. Every Alapca is happy to be awake and back to their lives.

But why do they need to sleep the whole Summer? Well, as Alapca Scientist Nikomachos explains,
"The Alapcas of Alapca-land are very sensitive to heat, and since their location is even hotter than the face of the Earth, they must hibernate in their air conditioned homes until the time is right."
Dr Nikomachos
Nikomachos also says that if the Alapcas do not sleep, the sheer amount of heat would overload their brains and other organs in Alapcas' heads, so they would explode.  This is why all Alapcas must have an air conditioning unit for the summer, because if they don't... KABOOM!
Luckily, Alarkas are luckier, since they have all of their vital organs in their body, except for their brain, which is in their head. This means that Alarkas can withstand the heat better than Alapcas and Alpaca-dragons. This also explains why Alarkas can live in The Alarka Isles, which has a hotter climate.
Another thing that Alapcas do when hibernating is that they will transform.
"By transforming, Alapcas can cut off their connections to the outside world if they need to. This means that they can sleep easily, as well as blend in as an ordinary object."
The problem is that Dragon-based Alpaca-dragons cannot transform due to their genetic composition. This means that Dragon-based Alpaca-dragons must turn the cooling in their houses higher or sleep in their fridges.

Inspectors Smith, Jones, and Smith Jones have reported that all of the Alapcas have come out of their hibernation unharmed and happy, and there have been no sightings of Eebtihw.
